Susan Alberti Charitable Foundation Signature Ball 2011

Grand Banquet Room, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre

The Susan Alberti Charitable Foundation Signature Ball is arguably Melbourne's most prestigious social calendar event. Founded 25 years ago by Susan Alberti, AO, HonLLD, to support fundraising efforts for Australian medical research, namely progress in finding a cure for type 1 (juvenile) diabetes.

This year the event moved from the Crown Ballroom to the recently opened MCEC. The 2011 Ball again showcased some of Australia's finest talent with this year's line-up including Jessica Mauboy accompanied by musical director Chong Lim and the Chong Lim Orchestra.

Funds from this years ball:

The funds raised from this year's Ball were donated to the JDRF Islet Transplantation Program (ITP) in Australia. This program is a major, cohesive clinical and basic research program that directly engages and supports the activities of over 130 researchers across four States.

The ITP is contributing to growth in the global body of knowledge about islet transplantation and to direct progress in Australia, with the goal of delivering a more widely available treatment option for people with diabetes.
